Levels 2, 3 & 4 Update for Equine Veterinary Care

September 21, 2021

Hello Level 3! What does this mean for you and your equine friends?

equine vet team on the road during COVID

Catherine & Kendra masked up and ready to vet

Level 3 means we can offer non-essential services, so long as we take measures to keep you & our team avoiding face-to-face contact.

In the Level 2 zone, we can provide a full range of equine veterinary services.

How does this look?

Level 3

  • Our equine vets are on call 24/7 and able to attend to any emergency.
  • If you need to see an equine vet, please call us on 09 2382471 and we will triage your horse over the phone, prior to visiting to ensure we know what to expect and can keep everyone safe.
  • We will be working in pairs, which enables us to keep 2-metres from you when at your yard. We will ask questions before attending your horse about how well they tolerate veterinary examinations and treatments. If we need more than 2 people we will advise you how this will be done safely.
  • Our Equine Vets will be wearing masks and we ask you to wear one too.
  • Equine clients are not able to come into our clinics. For medications and supplies, please phone or even better email your order to us (equine@fvs.co.nz). We will send you payment options and have it ready for collection from our dropbox when you arrive. Contact us for more details. Phone: 09 238 2471.
  • If you have flu-like symptoms or are in self-isolation, please let us know in advance of the visit, so we can plan accordingly.

Level 2

  • Our equine vets are on call 24/7 and able to attend to any emergency.
  • We will be keeping a 2-metre distance from you while at your property.
  • For most calls, one vet will attend unless doing prolonged procedures that require two vets (such as geldings or X-ray series). Our Equine Vets will be wearing masks and we ask you to wear one too.
  • We would prefer to just have one owner present to hold the horse.
  • You are welcome into Level 2 zone clinics. In the clinic, we require you to scan in, wear a mask, hand sanitise. All surfaces including EFTPOS machines and counters will be sanitised between clients. Also, we can only allow a limited number of people into the clinic at a time so if you are in a hurry please phone or even better email your order to us. We can have it ready for collection when you arrive.
  • If you have flu-like symptoms or are in self-isolation, please let us know in advance of the visit, so we can plan accordingly.

Level 4

For those of you in the bespoke Level 4 area, only essential care will be provided. Please call 09 238 2471 for more details.

Look after yourself and stay safe.
